Getting to Gare du Nord for Your 9:24 AM Eurostar

Morning Timeline:

6:45 AM – Wake up, final packing, check out prep

7:15 AM – Leave hotel
Walk to Arcueil-Cachan RER station (12-15 minutes)

7:30 AM – Arrive at Arcueil-Cachan station
Purchase ticket and board RER B train

7:35-7:45 AM – Board RER B train
Direction: “Aéroport Charles de Gaulle” or “Mitry-Claye” (northbound)

8:00-8:10 AM – Arrive at Gare du Nord
(Journey time: approximately 20-25 minutes, only 4-5 stops)

8:10-8:30 AM – Navigate to Eurostar check-in
Complete security and passport control

9:14 AM – Boarding begins (typically 10 minutes before departure)

9:24 AM – Departure to Amsterdam!

Detailed Instructions:

1. At Arcueil-Cachan Station:

  • Purchase ticket at ticket machine or window
  • Cost: €2.15 per person (standard Metro/RER ticket within Paris zones)
  • Board RER B train going NORTH toward CDG Airport or Mitry-Claye
  • DO NOT take trains going south (Robinson/Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse)

2. RER B Stops to Gare du Nord (only 4-5 stops):

  • Laplace
  • Denfert-Rochereau
  • Port-Royal
  • Luxembourg
  • Gare du Nord ← Your stop!

Travel time: 20-25 minutes

3. At Gare du Nord Station:

  • Exit the RER platform (level -1)
  • Follow signs for “Eurostar” or “Departures to UK” with UK flag
  • Take escalators (opposite platform 17) or lifts (opposite platforms 9/10) up to Level 1
  • Eurostar check-in is on the first-floor balcony overlooking the main concourse

4. Eurostar Check-in Process:

  • Scan your ticket QR code at the gates
  • Security screening (like airport, but no liquid restrictions)
  • French exit passport control
  • UK entry passport control (including new EU Entry/Exit System biometric checks)
  • Wait in departure lounge until train is called (~20 minutes before departure)

Important Notes:
